EMAN 1.61 is a bug-fix version of EMAN 1.60. It offers a new, simplified installation mechanism, and a single binary should function on most modern linux distributions.
On certain Linux versions with certain configurations, fonts in some of the GUI applications will be too large. The solution to this is to run 'qtconfig' (part of the QT installation on your machine) and set the default font 1 or 2 points smaller.
Windows Users Only some aspects of EMAN are supported under Windows. Utilities like proc2d, proc3d, etc. should be fine. The graphical tools (eman, boxer, ctfit) are about 95% functional. You may have occasional problems with them. Refinements (refine, multirefine, startnrclasses) are NOT supported. You may be able to get partial functionality, particularly with Cygwin, but there are no guarentees. For refinements, Linux/Unix is strongly suggested.
Which binary release to use:
- Windows (alpha version) - eman.1.61.win32-installer.exe
- SGI - for IRIX65 SGI's use: eman.1.61.IRIX65.tar.gz. for 3rd party libraries, use altlib_IRIX65.tar.gz.
- For Athlon/Opteron Linux workstations or clusters, use: eman.1.61.linuxathlon.tar.gz
- For Intel Linux clusters, use: eman.1.61.linuxcluster.tar.gz
- Other Linux workstations, use: eman.1.61.linux.tar.gz
