This is a nightly snapshot of EMAN from the development code, automatically recompiled early every morning. This version has not been tested in any way (aside from the fact that it compiled properly). Some days this will be usable version, other days, not.
For Linux version, to determine which file you need download. Firstly, find out whether your Linux is 32bit or 64bit. You can type "uname -a" in your shell window, if you see you system is x86_64, that means you have a 64 bit linux, you should download from Linux(x86_64). If you see i386, i586, i686 etc., you have a 32bit linux, just download throw Linux(x86) section. Then if you are going to install eman for cluster, JUst download cluster version. For 32bit EMAN, if you know your CPU is AMD athlon, download file has athlon in it. You can gain extra performance for your atlon cpu. If you are not sure, the files has no athlon in it is always a safe bet. For those of you has an old Linux system, you need download the file with oldX in its name. If you are not sure, you can try file without oldX first, if you get error message regard to X when you run eman, switch to it's oldX alternative.
For windows version of EMAN:
This is not a real nightly build, so we put build date in the installer file name. The installer will be updated whenever necessary. Compare to previous version, we use Visual C++ 2005 to build it now, and this copy support Python 2.5 only. Depends on your Windows XP system, you may need the visual c++ 2005 runtime library to run EMAN. When you click "eman" icon, ff you see error info like "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.", you need download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributible Package vcredist_x86.exe. Or you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en
