These are packages used for old versions of EMAN. They are largely superceded by files in the 'Other Files' section.
These are packages used only if you wish to recompile EMAN from source. In general all required libraries are provided in the binary distributions (check the altlib subdirectory).
Additional external software is provided here as well for convenience, including a slightly patched version of Vis5d.
Some of these libraries are used to enable optional features in EMAN (like direct Python support). A patched version of vis5d source is also available here.

FFTW - required, http://www.fftw.org
GSL - Gnu Scientific Library, required for a few specific programs, http://sources.redhat.com/gsl/
Boost Python - Required to compile EMAN with python scripting support. In the future this will become standard in the binary releases.
vis5d-1.2.1 - A version of vis5d patched to accept larger EM maps. Run with the 'box 1 1 1' and '-mbs n' options. (mbs specifies memory used)
