EMAN2
Daily ReleaseThis is a nightly snapshot version of EMAN2/SPARX. It's stability may vary from day to day. If you have problems with the most recent release version, or are looking for recent patches, use this version. Every day at Noon, Houston time, a new copy is checked out of our source repository, and compiled for all platforms. The new binary and source snapshot versions appear at ~5 pm Houston time. Stable release versions are below.
- PLEASE LOOK AT THE INSTALLATION TIPS : appropriate Wiki page
- If you run into any problems, please complain or use our bug tracker.
- Documentation is sparse but growing, and provided through the Wiki.
- These packages also include SPARX
- There may still be difficulties with the Windows version, if you do encounter problems, please let us know
- While the linux binaries could potentially work with Linux versions as old as Fedora Core 3, a more recent release is HIGHLY recommended.
- The GCC4 binaries are new as of 4/2010, and provide a significant performance boost. It needs glibc version at least 2.5. You can check your system's glibc version by using command '/sbin/ldconfig -V'. Warning:We disabled the fftw cache for eman2.daily.linux64.tar.bz2 since it causes segfault on some size of image. That means it runs considerably slow compare to the gcc4 version. So please use the gcc4 version as long as your system supports.
- If you see following error message when your run EMAN2 GUI program, please remove the Qt libraries (rm -rf libQt*.so) from your EMAN2/lib directory:
"Cannot mix incompatible Qt library (version 0x407**) with this library. (version 0x40703)" - Nightly builds are provided for Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" and 10.7 "Lion."
- Nightly binaries for Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard" have been discontinued. However, they are still posted for numbered releases.
- When upgrading from an older version, BEFORE untaring the new version, make sure you run 'e2bdb.py -c' to flush and clean up the cache. This will also make sure you don't have any EMAN2 jobs running while you upgrade. If you fail to do this, you may need to 'rm -rf /tmp/eman2db-*' before you will be able to start new EMAN2 jobs, and there is a (small) possibility of some file corruption.
