GroEL (native, no ligands)
Steve Ludtke, Donghua Chen, Joanita Jakana, Wah Chiu, Jiuli Song, David Chuang

This is a reconstruction of native naked GroEL. It is both a control for ligand binding experiments and as a test molecule for the EMAN suite. This 11.5 A structure was published in 2001, and we have since published much higher resolution structures of GroEL.

The raw data for this structure is available for those needing test data for EMAN. Email sludtke@bcm.tmc.edu for more information.

Fourier Shell Correlation plot. Thin lines represent comparisons of structures produced in successive stages of the iterative refinement. The thick lines represent comparisons with the x-ray structure and an even/odd test. Fourier Shell Correlation plot. As above, but from the final round of refinement. Note that the black rings around the projections have largely vanished due to proper CTF correction (which was not performed on the initial model).
