Surface/Density Plot

This is a density plot when displayed in 2D views and a surface plot when displayed at 3d views. It requires x/y data to be on a regular mesh, but z and rgb values are arbitrary. For data sets without color, 5 color ranges can be set which will be smoothly interpolated.
Sample density plot. Actually this is 2 overlaid density plots. Notice near the middle there appears to be a bit of a discontinuity. This data was sampled once over a large area with low resolution, then once the peak was found a high resolution scan was done in that region. The high resolution plot is overlaid on the low resolution plot. For the curious, this is the mosaic of an x-ray diffraction sample.

Just the high resolution scan from the plot above displayed in 3d.

This plot compares various orders of bessel functions. Note how the first maximum moves to the right as order increases.

In the other plots, color was determined by height (z value). In this plot, the color is mapped from data (in this case an imported rgb image). Note that again, unlike NXplot3d, this picture can be viewed interactively, not just in the final rendered picture.
