Tutorial on the program EDP, part 2

An image is read into EDP using the "Open ..." option available under the pull-down menu labelled File. The initial selection of the file using an X Window System Motif-based browser, will prompt EDP to read the header of the MRC-file of the pattern. After confirming that this file is the proper one to open, the actual data portion of the pattern is read into EDP, and an 8-bit deep image is being created, which is finally displayed into EDP's viewport.
